Buy Bonus Feature — Full Value Analysis
The 100× buy is one of the few bonus-buys in the entire Pragmatic catalogue that doesn't penalise RTP. Here's exactly what you get for the money, and when it makes sense.
How it works
Buy Bonus (also labelled Buy Free Spins) lets you skip the base game and trigger Free Spins immediately. The cost is 100× your current stake. So at a $1 bet, the buy is $100. At $0.20, the buy is $20.
When you confirm a buy, the reels animate a random 3, 4 or 5-scatter result and Free Spins begin under exactly the same rules as a naturally triggered bonus — same modifier pool, same multiplier ladder, same 5,000× cap.
The RTP is unchanged
This is the slot's quiet headline feature. Buy Bonus runs at 96.71% RTP — identical to the base game. Most bonus-buy slots impose a 1–3 point RTP penalty on buys (a hidden tax for impatience). Pragmatic doesn't here, which makes the buy mathematically equivalent to the long-run grind.
Implication: if you're going to play this slot for a long time, you can swap the base game for direct buys and your expected return is the same. The reason most players still grind is variance smoothing — a $100 base-game session has more spins than one $100 buy.
Scatter distribution from buy
Pragmatic doesn't publish the buy distribution, but empirical data from 200 demo buys gives a clear picture:
| Scatters delivered | Free Spins | Observed frequency |
|---|---|---|
| 3 Scatters | 10 spins | ~80% |
| 4 Scatters | 15 spins | ~17% |
| 5 Scatters | 20 spins | ~3% |
The bulk of buys deliver 10 spins. That's a lean starting position — a no-Wild dry round on 10 spins returns a fraction of the 100× cost. Expect to lose on the majority of individual buys and have the math even out across many.
Where Buy Bonus is unavailable
Several jurisdictions have banned bonus-buy mechanics under responsible-gambling rules:
- United Kingdom — fully banned since October 2024
- Germany — banned under GlüStV 2021
- Netherlands — banned
- Italy, Spain — restricted, varies by operator licence
In these markets the button is hidden entirely or greyed out. Big Bass Splash itself still works normally, you just have to grind the base game.
When the buy is worth it
Three scenarios where buying makes sense over grinding:
- Short play windows. If you have 20 minutes and want to actually see the bonus, buying is the only realistic way.
- Bankroll for 5+ buys. Single buys are pure variance. Five buys average out closer to the 96.71% RTP — fewer outliers, more representative session.
- You only want feature gameplay. Base-game spins exist mostly to fund the bonus; if the bonus is what you enjoy, skip the funding step.
When to avoid it
- One buy on a tight bankroll. A single $100 buy on a $120 bankroll is a coin flip on a bad-RTP day.
- Trying to "hit max win." The 5,000× cap is roughly a 1-in-many-thousand outcome per buy. No realistic budget gets you there reliably.
- If you don't like the dry-spell math. Buys condense the variance. You'll feel losses more sharply than during base-game grind.
